thanks for the feedback guys...i'm looking for more feedback because i'm sure this would be a pretty big undertaking for 3dcart, and to get it to happen, it needs support!
i agree that keywords are a good supplement, but not as easy for users as tagging.
with keywords, you could do a search for 'red' and get 9846187 results.
with tagging, you can filter the tags to get the specific item you are looking for, and then search for red to get the exact item quickly. a savvy website operator would notice the searches for color, and then implement them as a category tag.
