Default Junk/Bulk E-Mail Problem

To Everyone,

I am just wondering if anyone else out there has used a hotmail, msn, yahoo or public e-mail account for there store and has had all e-mails from their store come in as junk mail, even with the filter turned off or to super low. Has anyone had any customers complain of this also??

Everytime I either place a test order through my website (well, a real order, but from myself) or receive an order, whether I try a hotmail, yahoo or msn e-mail account, they always come in as junk e-mail, for buyer or seller.

Has anyone else had this problem? And has anyone found a way to fix it? Please either way, yes or know, especially if you use a public account or have had customers complain, let me know!

It happens everytime for me!

Sorry, I do not use a public email for my store. Just curious, why you prefer this method? I use my domain email address for all email.

To be honest, for me, it is just easier. I use MSN Explorer as my bowser, and it notifies me the second I get e-mails, and I use messenger as my chat support for eBay, and all notifications to one spot. The fact that it is a public account hasnt hurt me at all, BUT

the fact that order e-mails come in as spam from me and anyone who has tested my site, via yahoo or hotmail/msn worries me.

If no one else is having this problem or had customers who have, this kind of sucks.

With your e-mails, did you specify what you want the FROM: frield to say, EX. Breeze and it showsup in your e-mails??

Gonzalo, if no one else is having this problem I think it may just be me, it works for everything but order e-mails.

My order emails show the customers email address in the 'FROM'. I thought this weird at first, but now I find it useful. On my previous cart, we set the 'FROM' to be the service email address for our site.

Would anyone be willing to test out their newsletter on a personal acount of theirs (a hotmail, yahoo or gmail etc.) I just tested a newsletter I created and even my nesletters go to the junkmail folder in hotmail.

This way if someone else tests this and it works for them, then I know it is a problem with the admin. If it gets flagged for you too, then its not just me.

anyone's help would be much appreciated

If your spam filter picks up a message that is not spam, sometimes it will say why, if it doesnt, ask the company that provides the service, ie. Yahoo in this case.

I have a hotmail account and the spam folder only catches a small percentage of the SPAM that i get, yet, the other day it blocked an email from a friend of mine (first time he emailed me there), so, why can't it block the viagra ads, but it can block my friend's email, not sure, but even when you buy from the biggest online outlets now, their thank you message always says "Add xyz@abc.com to your spam white list", seems to me that everyone is having this issue, not just you.

Well for the newsletter and for purchases it appears that it is in only doing it with hotmail/msn now. It is the only one that automatically puts them in the junkmail folder even if the filter is set to low.

I have tried with all of the others, for hotmail the reason given is this:

Microsoft and other industry leaders champion Sender ID as an initiative that provides a technical solution to help counter spoofing. Spammers use spoofing as their primary deceptive practice.

E-mail domain spoofing involves forging a sender's address on e-mail messages. Malicious individuals use spoofing to mislead e-mail recipients into reading and responding to deceptive mail. These phony messages can jeopardize the online safety of the user, and can damage the reputation of the company which seemingly sent the e-mail message.

Spoofed e-mail often contains "phishing" scams. In these scams, a spammer, posing as a trusted party such as a bank or reputable online vendor, sends millions of e-mail messages directing recipients to websites that appear to be official, but which are really scams. Visitors to these fraudulent websites are asked to disclose personal information, such as credit card numbers, or to purchase counterfeit or pirated products.

Sender ID seeks to verify that every e-mail message originates from the Internet domain from which it claims it was sent. Sender ID checks the address of the server that sent the mail against a registered list of servers that the domain owner or e-mail recipient have allowed to send e-mail. The Internet service provider (ISP) or recipient's e-mail server automatically perform this comparison before the e-mail message is delivered. If the Sender ID verification passes, the message is delivered as regular mail.

If the check fails, the message is further analyzed and the receiving server may refuse to deliver the e-mail, or it may flag the e-mail as a possible deceptive message. Depending on the recipient's ISP or e-mail server software, messages that fail the Sender ID check may be flagged and sorted differently. For example, a simple icon may be displayed in the message to indicate the failure. Or the message may be sent to the junk mail folder for the recipient's review, or it may be automatically rejected and deleted.

There is no single solution to stopping all spam and online fraud. However, Sender ID is a significant first step that many in the industry support to counter spam and online phishing attacks.

It Also Does This:

Block images arriving in e-mail
By sending you messages that contain special image technology, strangers can discover whether your e-mail address is valid. When you open an e-mail message that contains this type of image, the sender learns that your e-mail address is valid and can continue to send you unsolicited messages. Using the MSN Hotmail image filter, you can prevent these images from opening until you verify their source.

Is there a way we can get the mail manager to have sender ID's verified? is this possible?
