Default Would like error message for missing CVV

When customers try to check out, if they don't enter a CVV number, the message is: cannot process your card at this time. Try again later. Would like to require the CVV and have an specific error message listing the missing item. Thanks!

Mark what payment method are you using? I use PayPal Pro for credit card processing and think most of the the 'credit card can not be processed at this time' complaints I get are this very issue.

3Dcart should have a option to require CVV number so a check and be done automatically by javascript and a error message displayed before the credit card is processed. This is actually something you should be able to do yourself by editing checkout step 3 or the single checkout page if you use that. I will try to come up with something when I have the time and will post the code here if I get something that works.

Also did you ever find a solution to this? I am going to submit a support ticket and see if support can make the CVV number required.

You can also change your credit card error message under Settings -> Design -> System Messages (it is the error message labeled Credit Card Error).

I just changed mine to say "Your Credit Card cannot be charged at this time. You may have left the CVV2 number blank. Please try again making sure you entered the correct CVV2 number. If the number is not blank and you still have a problem please try again later."

I think the same credit card error is used for several different reasons.
Would like the declined message to be specific as to the "reason" for the decline, if possible.

I would very much like to see this implemented as well. It can be frustrating to a customer when they don't immediately understand why their credit card is not going through, and especially for us merchants who know how critical that final "complete order" step is! Any deterrents or confusion at this stage can mean the loss of a sale.

I agree with the error message issue however I think many of the issues are the CVV number being blank (at least with PayPal payments pro because PayPal requires the field). Support was able to change the CVV field to required for me and now a error message will display if the CVV field is blank.

Default Should be controlled in your payment gateway

Mark, you are correct, the same error message is received in the case of a decline, whether the card is not valid or it is an AVS mismatch. We simply updated the error message in Settings -> Design -> System Messages to be a little more informative.

Requiring the CVS code should be able to be done through your payment gateway. We use Sage Payment systems and I was able to change settings in there to require the CSV and to specify what type of AVS matches would be required to allow the charge to be processed. If you are using a 3dCart preferred payment gateway, you should see the requirement changes immediately in 3dCart.

As far as requiring the CSV, you should be able to duplicate some code in the "required" javascript and modify it for the CSV to accomplish this.

The code in the checkout-singlepage.html file... you would need 3dCart to tell you the correct field name for the CSV entry.

Thanks,

We DO require the CCV. The problem is the cart can't interpret the response from the processor for certain declines. We use Elavon, which is only partially supported. Maybe that is the issue. If it's an incorrect CCV, then the customer doesn't know what is specifically wrong.

"We simply updated the error message in Settings -> Design -> System

We had to do the same thing. We basically had to tell them to check EVERYTHING and try again.
