Category Options

I'd really like to change category features (i.e. Product Display - Item display type) across the entire shopping cart, rather than having to do it for each individual category type or via changing the html.

Also, the ability to set categories to id values would be useful so I could change the category descriptions, settings or even parent/child positioning without having to reset all my products to the new category.

Finally, to implement this a category upload feature similar to the product upload could do this and be an easier implementation method as well, at least for the first request.

This a really good idea, some of these options like the # of columns or items per page already work like this. The Product Display displays to listing_0.html so it's easier to save the default listing page with this name and change the categories that are different. I think the main options that need to be move to the General Settings are the "Default Sorting" and the "Related Items Display Type".

This is possible right now, if you change the name of the category or the parent/child positioning then all the products inside the category will remain the same. As long as you don't delete and add the category again the ID will be the same.

The category upload is already planned for the next 3dcart release.
