We have a project plan (listed below), but we value your opinion, and if we can squeeze any features that you all need into the next updates, we definitely will, so post post post .


2.1 - Will be completed by second week of March.

a. Checkout questions.
You will be able to ask questions in step 1, 2, 3 of checkout, all information will be saved and viewable from the order details, emailing of the question information will also be possible (this is all configurable by the template)

b. Articles
Instead of creating 10 different content pages for say press releases, or Q&A, this new feature lets you create a database of content. This is going to be really neat for pages like FAQ, customer testimonials, etc. where you can easily add new content by adding a new record to that database.

c. Updated import/export

d. 10 extra fields for product details.
Use them to display more information about the items. Ie. if you ever wanted to have a field for item dimensions, or a field for the material the item is made of, you can use these fields and place the tags on the product listing pages where you want the info to appear.

e. Endicia integration, Ordermotion Integration, Froogle 1 button upload.

2.2 - Due by first week of May

a. Gift certificates
b. Smarter search (have the search look into products as well as content pages, the new article pages from 2.1, category header/footers, etc.)
c. DHL integration
d. UPS Worldship desktop plug-in to easily transfer information back and forth from UPS Worldship.
e. CRM system to track customer requests.
f. SHOP.COM Integration
g. Customizable templates per product, per category, per info page.
h. Form creator. A utility to allow you to easily create a form to ask your customers for input. Ie. An easy way to create a contact form without coding all the html.
i. Product Grouping, buying 1 product which contains other products.

Maybe this is already in the template, but if not, Would the questions and answers also print on the invoice?

Would it be possible for the admin to choose where the search should look--maybe enable/disable options for the various places that could be searched?

Wow. I already see more features scheduled for release within the next 10 weeks then I have seen from my current cart host in the past two years. And no, it's not because they already have them . If you can pull this off, I will be most impressed.

Yes, the checkout questions will be able to be added to the invoice and email.
And yes, when we do the smart search, we will include some settings in the admin so you can control what it searches. The idea is that say you search for "Keyword" the results page would look something like:

Products

(45) more matches, click here for more.

If no content pages have the keyword then the search results would the same as it looks now....

These additions look good. We're looking forward to the DHL integration and the product grouping. The database idea is really a good one. BTW, I really like the Quick Search. It is proving to be very valuable.

The enhancement that would really help us is the addition of a mini-comments column on the order list. It does not need to be large, maybe 50 characters. The order list comments column could be 20 characters wide with wrapping. (If comment exceeds 20 characters, the next 30 will wrap.)

Maybe you guys could create a .pdf manuel to go with your cart/features etc. You guys have so much to offer that even after being a customer for a year Im still learning the features etc.

Hi,
I am still pretty new to using the cart, so forgive me if what I am asking for is already available:

1 - I use my own item numbers...ability to show that item number field in the item's description page so I know what the customer is referring to if they have a question.

2 - Ability to add a related item globally

3 - If an item is no longer available, and has previously been set as a related item, to remove that status automatically ( as well as remove it as a choice for future related items)

And I agree with Robking, a step by step manual showing what buttons do and how it affects your site would be great.

What about being able to capture payments from the admin? I know, it is a biggie.

I am impressed with all the upcoming features. Bravo guys, the above is the only one I can think of right now.

Hi Gil, This forum is terrific! Thanks for all the hard work from you, Jimmy and Michelle. Since I use VPOS for my credit card orders, it would be helpful to have the customer's telephone numbe printed on the invoice. I print the invoice to use as my hard copy of their order and it would save me from having to copy it off the screen. Tommie

Gonzalo - along with all of the upcoming enhancements, any chance we can add the automatic email follow-up to abandoned shopping carts (incomplete orders)? or, perhaps just a method of manually changing their status so that a pre-existing status email can be sent?

Looking forward to picking everyone's brain here! Looks like this is gonna be a GREAT forum!
