You can update the language on "Be the first to Review this product" via "Store Language". (I followed your suggestion to change it to "Be the first to review [name]") Can you allow "Email this page to a friend" language to be updated via "Store Language" as well?
It saves time over changing it in the product page html, esp. if you have more than 1 product page layout.
Breeze, using the info in this post, Forum Link, you can change the recommendafriend.html and it shouldn't matter which page you're using it on, right?
Please correct me if I misunderstood your question or if I'm wrong about the way this will work.

The "recommend" works fine. It's the actual link 'Email this page to a friend' that I'd like to change. I'd like to change it to say 'Tell a friend about [name]'. I'd like to be able to change it without modifying the product layout html.

Just curious, how many different product layouts are you using? Are those the "listing0", "listing1", etc. pages? And are the number of them based on the various product display choices you make in admin? I have only two, but haven't set up all my products yet.

I have 2 product layouts. I have a 'clearance' category. Here is want to show the actual available inventory. On all other categories, I want to always show products as 'Available'.
Yes, it is can be modified per category and is based on "Product Page Display Type" on the category options. It's a little confusing in that Style 1 is tied to listing0 and Style 2 is tied to listing1.
