Default Related Items Feature

Dear Forum Members,

I have just spoken with Gonzalo and there is a request I had, but has not been requested by anyone else but that I feel would be great.

As it stands now we have three options in relation to featured/related products that show up on listings:

1) Random
2) Random Related from same category
3) You specify the related items for each product

The one I have proposed is one which takes in all multiple shopping cart checkouts, and places those items in the related field.

Ex. If customer one buys the first four seasons of alias, those will all be items that become items related to one another.

Ex. If a customer buys a wooden stick, a steel stick, a tin stick. Those will become featured items of one another, and so on and so forth.

These eatured items could be based on the amount of occurences as well, meaning if alias season 2 is purchase 10 times when season 1 is, and ghostbusters 9 times, Lost 8 times, and alias season 2 7 times, based on these amounts and if you have 3 featured items set in your admin. The first three would show up.

If you like this please vote, it could help us all if you like it!

Thanks!

Do you mean like a hot sellers type of thing or most popular? I'd vote for that. I'm always being asked what the most popular shoes we sell are.

Yeah kind of like that, this will just automatically put the items usually purchsed with the one you are viewing. So if you have a category with 500 products, instead of it just taking random items from it and making them featured, this will actually take the hitory of buyers from your site and place featured items in relation to other items based on your sites sales history!

Hi echelondvd,
I don't see were we have the option to selected Related products according to Category. I just have Random or I have to specifically chose them, which I do, which is a pain when the item sells and becomes unavailable. I sell one of a kind items, so the hot sellers really don't pertain to my type of store.
It would make my uploading inventory time considerably less if I didn't have to go through my inventory specifying related products.
My best,
Dana

To be completely honest, I am not sure! When I moved my shopping cart over from version 1.0 to 2.0, I had Jimmy & team, specify this for me. My database has over 45,000 products and about 13 categpries, so I had them do it. Maybe log into a chat in the afternoon with Jimmy, or send in a low priority ticket. It is very easy for them to automate, so it shouldn't take long, at least it didn't for me. Sorry I couldn't help more!
