I appreciate your words of encouragement and interest in the new release! I know that you are anxious to use the new version of the software, and trust me, we are doing everything we can to release it quickly.

I have a couple a questions/suggestions for the new affiliate program.

First of all, will there be the ability to have multiple levels of affiliate? In other words, the first person to become an affiliate gets a 15% commission, but if they get a new affiliate then that new person gets lets say a 5% commission and the first one gets a 10% commission. Will functionality like that be available?

The next suggestion would be to allow for commissions to be set specifically for individual products. I have some products that have a much larger markup than some of my other products. A flat commission just doesn't work across the board for all of those products, so it would be great if we had the ability to give specific commissions based on individual products or even categories, as opposed to just one flat percentage that covers everything. Hope that makes sense.

Basically I would like to see the affiliate program implemented in much the same way as the current customer group system is set up. You could then assign different percentages or pricing for each affiliate or you could go into the Advanced tab for each product and edit the actual commission amount that would be paid dependent upon which affiliate group was credited with the purchase...similar to how you can currently create up to 10 Pricing Levels for each product and then assign that level to a customer group.

Again, hope this all makes sense. Looking forward to the new release!

Gonzalo sorry if i sound so cynical, i understand the constraints of developing software, but i also believe in not telling a customer what they want to hear, ive been very active in communicating with you guys specifically regarding fedex shipping labels implementation, i was told on numerous occasions a few weeks that i would be able to be a beta tester, then after several times i was told this would not happen until the next release which was initially to be out in March? Then April, Then May..... and so on. This started right before last summer. Im sure you can appreciate my frustration. Currently it is very tedious to login to fedex for each and every order and copy and paste each line/data entry to print a label, there are several other carts solutions that have this available but ive been holding off on switching based upon what you guys tell me but i must say my patience is just about gone.

for people complaining about the time of release, i hear you, and i too am anxiously awaiting the new release... but if you have any inkling of what it takes to do a software update + rolling one out without service/code disruption, then you should should stall them out a bit. If you don't, then all i can say that's its a bitch.

i dont remember anybody from 3dcart _promising_ a launch date, nor do i want my store all jacked up with the software change.

i would rather wait 7 months and have a fairly seamless switchover than a rushed release with bugs resulting in loss of revenue and search rankings.

Holy cats! As far as I'm concerned, 3D already offers features far and above my current-and-soon-to-be-former cart. The improvements and additional features they're adding are major--not just some little modification here and there--and I can see why it would take such a long time to make it available for launch. I must add my encouragement to the 3D team to take their time, get it right, and give us a product update that we can all enjoy at release time instead of forcing us to deal with a half-finished product full of bugs. So far, I think they've been pretty mindful of this, and I really appreciate it.

Looking forward to the new version!

At this point we are doing some heavy testing on the application. Part of the new system includes many optimizations on the store front as well as the administration panels; this has to be tested thoroughly.

Our goal is to have the testing and migrations plans ready by middle of July.
Middle of July here.....

I'm holding off possibly hiring 3D for design because I need to see the release first.

Rumor has it that 3dcart is working VERY hard to have us all some type of a working demo within the next few weeks! From what I've heard, there have been just a ton of new things added!

Last time they released a new update to the software, the transition (for us) was flawless. Not a single hiccup! I'm hoping that they'll wait a week or month or whatever it takes to insure that the transition to this new release goes as smoothly as last time!

Oh come on.......the latest update is summer 2007. They still show the Buy Safe promotion from a year ago as the latest thing.
