Default Better Search Feature

I don't know if anyone else feels the same way, but if you search for an item:

Ex. Payout Poker and Casino for Xbox 360

and you search for it on eBay or Amazon, or any big retailer and even search enigines like Yahoo or Google. No matter the order you place those terms in, it will show you similar items with te one you are looking for in the list or take you right to the exact product page,

With the 3dcart search if you were to type in PSP payout poker it would not find it. For our search it has to be in the exact proper order, or you can only enter in the 2 terms payout poker for it to find it. Reverse those 2 words to Poker payout, and our search won't find it, even though both of those terms are in the title.

Not sure if anyone else feels the same as me, but had to throw it out there! Please vote for it!!!haha

Actually, right now, the search 3dcart does is better than any of our competitors. If you typed

PSP poker game

It searches for PSP POKER GAME first, then item swith 2 out of the 3, then items with 1 out of the 3, and then ranks the results.

If you know of an existing shopping cart that has a better search, (not Amazon ), let us know. In order to go to the next level, we would need to implement a search index, which would take up more server resources, specially with a catalog like yours of over 50,000 items. If you are willing to get a dedicated server, perhaps we can work on a better search system for you.

The search feature won't display any matches when searching by part number (mfg id). This is a big problem for me as I have employess who don't know what the product is for, until they search for it on the site. Plus many of my customers know the part number of the product they want.

How much is the dedicated server plan?

Maybe I've misunderstood, but if you put the mfg id into your keywords won't the search pick it up? Like I said maybe I don't understand how the keywords work.

Hi,

I tried the search and it does not find the mfg id. It will find the product id/sku.

Isn't that generated by the system though?

I imported by MC product ids into the product id/sku field.

So what's the solution if you want customers to be able to search by part number? Do I put my part numbers in the Product ID/SKU box?

Thanks, I will do the same. For some stupid reason I was under the impression that the SKU couldn't/shouldn't be changed....lol.

A better way to describe what I am trying for would be the feature on say amazon:

People who ahev bought this item have also bought:

1) sdsdss
2) sdsds
3) sdsds

So it would take this premise and apply it to the featured products area. Where the cart will automatically tailor what products are featured instead of just by category.
