home page? Where do you set which category_x file to use?

The subject says it all... where do you set which category_x file to use for the homepage?

Since I am having to make custom templates for each category in my main navigation, I am wondering how to make the home (which seems to be a special default category that ALL cats live in) use a file where NONE of the main nav buttons are pre-selected... BUT I do need to have those navs BE on the homepage.

I'm all ears.

Home page has only 1 template, called home.html.
