Default Help with product listing-design

Hey all,

I've been looking at changing the way our products look- right now the "basic" view is ok, but i'm looking for something more, like this:

http://www.strollandgo.com/Baby-Jogg..._p_0-976.html#

So far i've been unsuccessful with using programs like Dreamweaver to do it. I'm assuming that the listing_0.html and listing_1.html, etc, would be the only way to change it.

Anyone have tips on this?

Thanks!

yeah you do have to edit those pages. as far as i know, i would definitely NOT use dreamweaver to edit those pages. some of whats involved is some asp coding.

check my product page... it's CLOSE to what you are looking for, and I ripped it from ScribeTime's site (thanks! ).

i can totally give you my code.

there is no reason not to use dreamweaver. also, you will not have to perform any asp coding in order to modify the templates. they are straight html/css.

Yes, however make sure you are editing the correct template. if you make changes to a template file that your website isn't using, then it wouldn't have any effect on your website.

I'm a newbie here on the boards - trying to change the product detail page to a similar set-up that you have...if you could share your code that would be so appreciated. I've been trying to update the listing template tonight with little success (I seem to know enough html to get me in trouble)

Thanks in advance!
Janice

Ditto the last response for me--especially just knowing enough to get myself in trouble!

I'm still trying to change the layout for the product detail page with little success...

Would like to have the screen shot be a one glance for the customer (so they are not having to scroll down). I'm trying to make the Photo and Description area a two column tab. I've successfully combined the Price/Quantity box to include the availability, buy button, and send to...am working on getting the global product options listed in this box as well.

However, if any of you would share your code for something similar - please share - thanks!

I'm interested in seeing code to create something similar to Stroll & go as well. I tried to do it myself, and got about halfway there, but got hung up and reverted back to the original design.

depending on how much information your product page has, this could be close to impossible without drop-down menus. a side (left or right) navigation sucks up alot of valuable real estate which almost forces a scroll.

one more reason why i put a feature request for the ability to create nested lists of the categories (which would make it a snap to create drop down menus). support it here:

creating nested lists of your categories

with that said, i have gotten it done, but since i have basically rewritten all of the templates, my code will do you no good

Thanks anyways

I may just re-write as well down the line. Just wish there were more templates with different layouts to choose from for the product detail page...

Not sure if this helps, but I had created a layout a while back that had tabs which pulled data from the extended description fields so that if you rolled over a different tab the data on the page would change. This was of course below the product image/add to cart/pricing/etc. section which always stayed at the top.

I thought I had posted about it, but I cannot find it at the moment. If you are interested in this type of layout let me know and I will try to dig it up.
