theFIND is getting us good leads these days. We submitted feeds and are getting good results. What we like most is the "coupons" feature.
Good stuff, getting better results than GoogleBase. Google really has some competition here. Competition is good! :)

Hey Mark, does the badge cause any security message problems (i.e. when the customer goes to checkout does it cause a popup with the secure/non-secure msg)? I have put it in the global left banner and I was worried about the badge causing this problem since it shows an http and not an https connection.

      Thanks,

      John

        That's a great question!
We have it in the right banner, which we do not display on view cart or checkout, so, isn't an issue.

That's a great idea. I forgot all about being able to hide the left/right bars. Thanks for jogging my memory.

I put the badge in my left banner area, and ran a test order and did not have any secure/non-secure issues.

            Thanks!

How are you creating the feeds? I tried using the googlebase format right out of 3dcart, but it failed. Are you manually creating these?

We use the feed generated by 3dcart for Googlebase. Works fine. We download it, save it as a txt file and then use it on theFIND

What are your googlebase settings? I tried this and had many errors.

Here is the settings you need:

                      url_link link
                      name title
                      extended_description description
                      image_link image_link
                      top_category product_type
                      id
                      price
                      manufacturer brand
                      constant condition new
                      expiration-date expiration_date

be sure to check carefully the hyphen or underscore used. Also note that the constant field has three entries.

                      Hope this helps! :)

                        Google Feed Uploads

If you use http addresses for images, it can create some problems. You might try opening your Google text file if this is the case. Make sure that the image name doesn't start with your website if you are getting them from a third party. For example: You pull an image from xyz.net instead of your website. The feed 3d produces automatically inputs your website in front of the image. If your website is abc.net then the 3d image for Google would say http://www.abc.nethttp://xyz.net. You need to find and remove your website in the text file if you are pulling the image from a third party.

That's exactly what we have. Identical.

All our images are hosted from our site, so this is not a problem.

When I uploaded the feed yesterday, there were all sorts of errors. However, now I see:

                          Latest Upload: 2010-06-02 21:51:15
                          Feed being processed...

So maybe it took it. How long does it usually take to process a feed on thefind?

                            theFind

We tried using theFind and placed their badge on our site but found the badge was slowing the loading of our pages which then led to reduced orders as people would not wait for theFind's servers to serve the image.

Have any of you found this to be the case with your sites?

This new 3.2 upgrade is already so much slower than the previous version that to slow down the loading of the site even more is detrimental to our business. So I am asking the question to see if maybe it is just our website or if others have the same slow loading problems.

                            Thanks,
                            Ken
