  • Does anyone know a company that can input products?

    Does anyone know of or has anyone used a company or a person skilled in adding products to an ecommerce store? I need to find someone and hire them to add hundreds of products to my store and just don't even know where to start looking.

    You can use the product import function to upload many items. The only downfall to this is images and product description. You must put the file path in your upload file manually for each image. and the specific product description.

      http://www.scriptlance.com post a project and let people bid on it, give accurae details. you will find someone willing to do a good job for little money.

      just checkout the bidders project feedback and you won't have any problems.

        As far as images, something that works great if you're importing from a spreadsheet file, is if your images have the same name as the product id, then you can use the concatenate function to automatically create the file path based on the product id in the id column.

        something like: "=concatenate("assets/images/productimages/FOLDERNAME/",B2,".jpg")

        where B2 is the column containing the product id. I do the same thing for the thumbnail. something like:

        "=concatenate("assets/images/productimages/FOLDERNAME/",B2,"_thumbnail.jpg")

        I use the resize thumbnail option in 3dcart which creates the thumbnail with the "_thumbnail.jpg" filename.

        It's so helpful when the supplier provides images with the same same as the product id. Unfortunately, the product description is a bit cumbersome to enter.

            I use excel as well. If you don't want to use the formula listed above, you can also do the following:

            Put assets/images/productimages/FOLDERNAME/ in column A
            Put your file name for the picture in column B
            Put .jpg in column C
            In column D, put =A1 & B1 & C1

            Make sure you put the spaces in between, otherwise it won't work properly. Also, replace the number 1 with whatever row you are using.

            Regarding having someone else do it, you could also post on elance.com.
