  • Cart Contents Clearing In Chrome

    Hello all!

We've been struggling with an issue for a while now where carts will randomly clear in the Chrome browser. We've had customers call in about the issue and we have been able to recreate the issue ourselves on separate computers and even at different locations. Today I decided to check some other 3dcart sites to see if it's just us and I was able to recreate the issue on other sites as well. Below are two separate ways I was able to create the issue.

    Open Chrome
    Clear cache
    Visit site
Select "All Of Our Scales" from the categories on the left
Add first product, (My Weigh Metal Hand Scale - Silver) to the cart using the button on the category page
    Go to cart
Skip checking rates and go right to checkout
Fill in info and go to next step
Cart is cleared and I'm redirected to the homepage

From step two go back to cart and calculate rates
Cart is cleared and I'm redirected to the homepage

I had that happening last week. I did screen shots of it because when you'd proceed to checkout you'd get the message nothing was in your cart. I tried and tried and never could get anything into the cart and get it to stay. All of a sudden, I was able to. Now I'll go try again in case something is hinky again

UPDATE: Working now but shipping calculations are not correct and I'll lose my rump on these :-(

I have had that exact same thing happen, intermittently, in Firefox. I think I even opened a ticket on it. Nothing came of it.

@Toobusy: Our shipping calculations were incorrect for over a month. They did fix it for us 3 days ago. What was happening was that it was using the counter rate not the daily pickup. The toggle was not working, it just defaulted us to counter which was quoting a much higher rate. One of the things that was weird is that my UPS login defaulted to what they called the new account login. Check your UPS login where it asks for the Key etc to make sure that it has your correct login information, so that it is actually pulling up your rates. If you keep having problems and they are similar to what we went through, perhaps mention our situation and they could pull up our ticket notes and hopefully get some insight into your problem.

@Pro: We have had that happen on seemingly rare occasions. Did you put a ticket in? If you pm me or post your website I can check on our Chrome.

Pack Secure Good morning! We have put in tickets, but there isn't really any movement on them that we've seen. The site is oldwillknottscales.com

I tried it with My Weigh Metal Hand Scale - Silver and it kept it in the cart. I would ask for them to escalate your ticket, if you are not seeing any results.

Happens in my store as well.
                Very disappointing

I've noticed it too. However, it doesn't seem to happen in incognito mode. I am wondering if it has to do with logging in as admin under regular mode of the browser.

I have also run into that cart clearing, and we also get issues with one-page-checkout where it will throw an error that something is missing or shipping is not selected, where it is selected or the info is there.
Support is instructed to shut down problems instead of deeply investigate issues, that trying to actually have something done about issues is a long process of going back and forth and is almost not worth it most of the time. I try to choose what to report to support because I only have so much time to argue with them, and still have the time I give up before I get a resolution.
