  • How do you adjust purchase orders for products out of stock for months?

After 20 years of using our local order entry & reporting system, an employee brought to my attention that some sales numbers (products sold) would always be incorrect due to items going out of stock.

    Example:
You are ordering from an overseas supplier and want to order 12 months worth of stock. You don't realize that out of this 12 month period, you were out of stock for 5 months. Therefore the sales quantities sold that you see are really only for 7, not 12 months.

If you don't realize this, you are going to only order about half the inventory you need.

So - since we were aware of this, we created an excel sheet with our sku, vendor, and product name along with the date out of stock and the date it came back into stock.

However, manually finding all this when creating purchase orders and adjusting can be cumbersome.

Does anyone here have a way to adjust sales reports for products out of stock for months in some automated manner?

We plan on using Stone Edge Order Manager with 3D - perhaps there is a way to associate the first time 3D sends a 0 inventory number with the date of that data?

    Thanks for any ideas!
