What's Difference between Related and Up-Sell

When adding or editing a product if you click on the RELATED tab - what is the difference between

Related Products

and

Upselling Items

How are they intended to be used?

Just a guess here, but, one is an accessories or specifically related part or add-on to the item listed, and the other is products in a similar or related category. Which is which, I don't know. Whatever one you enter in the product description page would my guess be the related accessories. If you don't input anything, I think the default pulls the items from the same category
