  • Show Newest Products on Home Page...

    Man, what am I missing? How do I show my newest products on my home page? I can get it to just throw some random "featured" products on there, but can't find how to get it to show the newest. I see the drop down in the settings for "Home Page Sorting" and "Newest" is an option, but I don't see what that does.

    Thanks!

    If you'd like the cart to display only the newest items on the homepage, then the best thing to do is to utilize the "Home Special" option for just the new products. When adding a new product, check off the Home Special box, and then the cart will rotate randomly through those items you have selected. Another tip would be to create a new category called New Products and add products to that category when you add them to your cart, as well as their main categories that they reside in.

      There is also a date created in the csv file. You can change this, as well, I THINK! :o

        Ok, I appreciate your solutions here. I just want to say (however) that this is really amazing that there isn't something automated for this. I've worked with other carts where this is just so standard. Your solutions would technically serve to get new items to show on the home page, but would also require significant maintenance in removing new items from either the category or unchecking them as specials.

        I wrote to support and they suggested I pull the NEW_RELEASES_BLOCK code from the original frame.html file and put it in home.html file. I did so, excited about the prospect of implementing an automated solution, but it doesn't render correctly. It just shows the code exactly as it's typed in there, ie: [id] [name] (instead of showing the products.)

        Does anyone know if this is supposed to be doable (pulling repeatable code from the frame and sticking it in home.html?) Perhaps I'm just missing something.

        thanks.

            They're in there. It looks like this in home.html:

            Code:
            <!--START: NEW_RELEASES_BLOCK-->
            		 <TR>
                 </TD>
                 <table width="160" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" border="0">
            	       <tr><td class="menu-headers" colspan="2">New Releases</td></tr>
            			<!--START: newreleases-->
            			<tr><td align="center"><a href="product.asp?itemid=[catalogid]"><img src="[thumbnail]" border="0" alt="[name]"></a></td></tr><tr><td align="center" class="item"><a href="product.asp?itemid=[catalogid]">[id] [name]</a></td></tr>
            			<!--END: newreleases-->
            		</table>
                </TD>
                </TR>
              <!--END: NEW_RELEASES_BLOCK-->

              Ok, I called phone support. Their answer was different from the people manning the ticket system. They say that I cannot do this.

              Oh well, another disappointment. :(

                Did you ever figure out a way to do this Maksum? The original frame.html files have a new items block, which seems to just render as a blank area when I put it into my own frame.html file, and renders as just raw code when I put it into home.html.

                  Unfortunately no... never figured it out. I don't think it's possible.
