  • Help with From Submission

    We have a form link simialr to a contact us form on all of our product pages. Customers can click on it to ask a question or request a quote, etc. Is there anyway to have the form "pre-populated" with the product's part number or name? Other sites are doing it, just wonder how to do it here.
    Thanks in advance! :)

    I couldn't find it on your site but was interested so poked around a little.

    Did a search for various versions of "email form html refering url"
    Got quite a few php and scripts for this.

    Also the recommendafriend template does this so took a peek there.

    found this at the top of the form.

    <form method="post" action="recommendafriend.asp?action=send" class="nomargin" name="frmRecomend" id="frmRecomend">
    <input type="hidden" name="catalogid" value="[catalogid]">
    <input type="hidden" name="sitename" value="[sitename]">
    <input type="hidden" name="siteurl" value="[url]">

    Don't know if other back end stuff is needed to work

    I did noticed you don't seem to use the recommend a friend feature.

    You might just put your email address in as a hidden value in the recommend template, change the recommend a friend display wording to "ask a question" then activate the feature.

    Hope this helps.

      Thanks, that's close to what we want. We are looking for the form fields to be populated with the catid and name from the product page the link was launched. For instance, the product name text box would have the product name already filled in for the customer. Our current form link is "request Price Match". This form could be easily modified for a number of uses if we could populate fields from the product itself.

      We have the form working with items from 1 through 8, but, as you can see, it is not pulling the info from the product page:

      catalogid: [catalogid]
      sitename: [sitename]
      siteurl: [url]
      Product: 1
      Website: 2
      Lower_Price: 3
      Shipping_Charge: 4
      First_Name: 5
      Customer_email_address: 6
      Customer_Zip_Code: 7
      Comments: 8
      Submit: Submit

      Thanks in advance! :)

        Looked at your source code again.
        The hidden input values you added would not show up on the form. They are there to send the info to you in the email. Have you tried clicking a product and emailing yourself to see if it sends it to you?

        IF it works.
        to have it show up prefilled it should be

        <TR><TD align="right">Product Name:</TD><TD><INPUT size=39 value="[catalogid]"></td></tr> for instance.
        If it does show in the form it should work.

          Thanks for the responses and ideas. We have come closer to our objective. You can see the results so far, here:

          let us know what you think and that is appears correctly with your browser.

          There is one more thing with this popup. In the title bar for the popup it says "Put me on the waiting list" Where is this configured and/or is there any way to change this to the correct title?

          Thanks in advance! :)

            looks fine,
            Guess you found the waiting list thing since it says product inquiry.
            Also guess the commands didn't work on the other form
