  • Price levels and coupons

    Hello all,

My store is going to offer reseller/military/education/government discounts. I want to setup these accounts through the "pricing level" feature to automatically receive a 10% discount. However, I will also offer to other users a 10% coupon code. What I don't want to happen is a reseller/military/education/government account to be able to use an additional 10% coupon (I would be losing money if these discounts were combined). Is there a way to prevent this?

Any fellow 3dcart Mac users can use the promo code - 3dcart - to receive a discount on RAM for your Mac. This is a special thank you for all the previous and future help!

Yes, under promotion rules you can select which price level group can use the coupons. As I understand it, you would want to set that as None. That way, regular customers without a specific group assignment can use the coupon, but any customer assigned to a group would not be able to us it. We just recently went live ourselves, though, and haven't tested this yet, so you will want to try it for yourselves. Tech Support told us to set it that way, so I assume it is correct.

brassandsilver are correct on this one. Setting the promotion to Discount Group "none" will apply the promotions to users who are NOT part of an already existing group.

So customer A belonging to your military/educational/reseller group will be applicable for the specific group's pricing discount.

Customer B on the other hand who is not part of any pricing group should be able to use whatever promotion you set up as long as it is set for group none.

As long as customer B doesn't belong to any actual pricing group, the promotion will apply to them.

Any idea how I could apply this to coupons given to uncompleted order customers?
I would like them to be given a discount coupon for one time use & not be able to receive another if they try to "use" the system by abandoning their cart on any subsequent orders.

All you should have to do is set the coupon parameters to one use per customer. The promotion setup has a line that asks how many uses per customer you wish to allow, so just put a 1 in that box and it should work. If you send out the automated emails to abandoned cart customers and give them the coupon code then, though, be sure to specify that the coupon will only work one time so they know that in advance.
