Yes, you will need a dedicated SSL certificate or .3dcartstores.com will be part of your URL. You can purchase that as soon as you have gone live, but it takes a few days to for them to install the new SSL.

So my website url will forever contain .3dstores.com unless I buy my own security certificate?

You'll want to go into the store settings and at the bottom, make sure that your urls are correct. If you have your own security cert, you can change the secure URL to https if not, you'll need to leave it as the 3dcart URL.

I have my new site ready "enough" to go online. It's a replacement for an existing site and I have changed the DNS settings at my domain management site to point correctly. Now do I have to change anything (like the url's in 3dcart's admin settings, which now include .3dcartstores) to get it all linked up?
