  • Options Question

I have a question. We have been trying to figure a work-around for this problem for a while and we are stuck. One of the biggest things that is lacking for us with 3dcart is the ability to add gift wrap to an order for a fee. We set up an options template for this, which gives all of the choices we need to our customers, but, we are losing business because if someone orders 10 of an item and wants them to be wrapped, they then get hit with 10 gift wrap charges. If they call us, we work around it by adding one of the items to the cart with the gift wrap selected, and then add the other 9 with no gift wrap. Most customers don't figure this out on their own, and we see abandoned carts with this issue more than we would like. Any ideas how to add gift wrap as a one time fee during checkout? We also need the ability to offer several different gift wrap types. Thanks.

We are working on adding a feature that will be specifically "Gift Wrapping" and will be available during the view cart/checkout, but, until then, a possible work around for you:

Make a nice graphic "Gift wrapping available, click here" which you would put in the view cart HEADER or FOOTER, or directly on the template if you know HTML. Linking to a product that you would create specifically for this. The product could be as simple as a normal product with an image and a set price, or, you could have it with options ie. "Select Paper", Drop down with # of pacakges, text area box to write a note, etc.

So basically they just add it to their cart once during the checkout process.

Thanks, we will play around with that. Having that as a checkout feature would be fabulous. We will look forward to that...
