  • Phone Order Problem?

How the heck do you change prices on a phone order. I have many customers that receive special pricing. I just placed an order for a customer of mine and I had to leave the order at full price, authorize his card the full amount and then go to the order details and adjust the prices and then charge the correct amount. Am I missing something?

Found an old thread with the "Allow Custom Prices" setting and that solved my problem.

kind of a threadjack but this also relates to the phone order.

does anybody else get this nice little bug?

      1. start a phone order, select a customer, enter some items
      2. in another browser window open your store (not the admin screen)
      3. View your cart
      4. then go back into your admin phone order.

does it double the prices but keep the same qty?

I've had a problem with it doubling prices before also. Ended up having to refund the customer after the fact because i didn't notice it at the time.

The "Allow Custom Prices" setting for Phone orders will cause this issue because the front end is not aware of the setting and the system ends up doubling the product price.

Unfortunately the only way to solve it at this time is to disable the setting (or as you figured it out, don't visit the front end while placing an order on the phone order area). We are aware of the issue and will be addressing it on a future update.

Thanks for the update. The only reason I figured it out was because i clicked on a part link thinking it would take me to the admin screen but it instead opened up the shopping cart. I would think that viewing the link in the admin console to change/update/view information would be more useful than having the link work as it currently does.

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the shipping charge? For example, I may want to offer free shipping to certain customers.

                Ditto on the free shipping.

All of my wholesale customers order over the phone or the orders are put in manually in the back end....

and some don't pay shipping so the option to manually adjust shipping would be nice.

Or what if it was a customer pick up?

Also in this phone order, I have some products that I do not want to show online and they are hidden but would like these to be available via phone orders... is this possible?

I just ran in to this same problem today for the first time. So it has not been fixed yet!

Apparently this is still a problem

We just had a $600 order go through our phone order area and the customer was charged $1200, his entire order was doubled and the credit card was charged. He wasn't very happy with us and we aren't very happy that 3DCart has had this as a known issue for over a year now and it hasn't been fixed.

When will this glitch be corrected?

Did anyone ever figure out how to change shipping charges on phone orders? It seems crazy to me that you can't.

The "free shipping" option is still not available for phone orders? I have a few customers that I am selling to directly and have no way to select free shipping or "cash payment" option.

Can anyone let me know how they have been overcoming this and still keeping some type of transaction record for yourself and the customer?

                        Thanks.

In shipping methods we used one of the custom options (by weight, by value, etc) and set the group to phone order. We set it up for wholesale we can choose an option for $0 if they want to use their account. We also used the custom feature to make different options for using USPS flat rate boxes since the automatic calculator can't tell if a product will fit in a flat rate box. We had to set up a method for each size (small, medium, large, x2 large, etc) and the saleperson can determine if the order will fit in that size box. While this doesn't work on the front end, people will ask and we'll just direct them to call in.

Its not a perfect solution where we can just set whatever shipping price we want, but at least for those common shipping prices, it works.
