Once you get a clean template that's working if you want you can Private Message me with the log in information and I can look at the code and adjust it. It's no big deal to me.

Oh, oh - I have a hot mess growing here  ! I revised the code as above, but it still wouldn't work. I sent a support ticket to 3Dcart requesting the orginal HTML files to restore the site, opened them and copy & pasted each one (Categories_0, 1, 2 and Index) via 'view source", and it was a disaster.

I wonder if the problem is the template I'm using (v4007). The support person told me since the template is new, it may be a design issue and if I have further issues, I could contact the Design Team and a fee would be assessed. SERIOUSLY! UGH! Thinking of loading an older template and starting all freakin' over! What's wasting 2 weeks of one's life, anyway? lol

Thank you so very much for your kind words, David, and your generous helpfulness :)

Hi David! Thank you so very much - I'll give the above a shot - I hadn't revised the "Frame" html or the other Category pages. Thanks for the info regarding the button change, too! (Fingers' crossed)

You have a wonderfully organized, clean website, btw :) Great job!

    Use the article base.
    https://support.3dcart.com/index.php...barticleid=262

You will have to change the code in all the category pages and the home page. Check your frame template and make sure the line isn't buried in there.

You change the button description here.
    Settings>Design>Store Language

You can check my site. I have it working there. If you make all the changes correctly it will work from all items on any page.

I hate to bother you folks, but I tried to change the code to direct the button to the product preview page in lieu of checkout as indicated above, but NOW clicking doesn't take one anywhere AND adds the item to the cart. Could someone please help?

Incidentally, the site is still in the design phase and I plan revising the black buttons and remove the "Add to Cart" with "View Details".

Thank you so very much in advance.

The site's here: the Uncommon Pet

If you use the article base you need to make the change in more than one template and in multiple lines in the template. All the category templates and the home page or it will send them to the cart anyway.

    Sure glad to help

I have seen many ask to same and I am usually very busy but yes this can be done. We offer both "add to cart" and "view product details"

Try to find this line on your Category template toward the bottom template_0 section.
    Code:
    <td class="item" align="center" valign="middle"><input type="button" value="[category_buyitlink]" onClick="window.location='add_cart.asp?quick=1&item_id=[catalogid]'" class="btn" onMouseOver="this.className='btn_over'" onMouseOut="this.className='btn'"></td>
    Replace with
    Code:
    <td class="item" align="center" valign="middle"><input type="button" value="[category_buyitlink]" onClick="window.location='product.asp?itemid=[catalogid]'" class="btn" onMouseOver="this.className='btn_over'" onMouseOut="this.className='btn'"></td>
I say try cause I haven't tested and I was trying to save the button integrity for you.

If not then you will need to make a button image called "shop-now.gif" and use this line below
    Code:
    <td><div class="item" align="center"><a href="product.asp?itemid=[catalogid]"><img src="assets/images/default/shop-now.gif" border="0" alt=""></a></div></td>
Make sure image name .gif .jpeg .pnp .swf ? and image path are the same.

    Enjoy........

Thanks Go live...that's SO close to what I'm trying to do! It certainly worked to where it now doesn't take them directly to the cart when selecting Shop Now!, however, it still adds the item to their cart automatically (I tested it with one of the products that doesn't have an option and would go directly to the cart when Shop Now! was clicked).

Now it doesn't take you to the cart, and instead goes to the product page, which is GREAT and exactly what I was looking to do, but on the top of our site, near the header, the Shopping Cart portion went from 0 items, to 1 item in the cart and a total is shown. I'm looking to implement what you've suggested, as well as the Shop Now! button NOT adding the item to the cart automatically (even in the "background" or out of sight).

    Any advice?

    Thanks a million!
    James

    Easy

    setting>general>store settings

    checkout settings

    View cart enable (uncheck box)

    Save

  • How to: Category "Add to Cart" button go to product listing, NOT cart?

    Hi all,

When you click on a category and it shows the products available within the category, there is a (default) red button that says Add To Cart. I changed the wording, for our site, to "Shop Now!". Please see attached screen shot photo.

When you click on the picture of the product, it takes you to the product page with more information. Also, when a product has options that must be chosen (i.e., color) clicking on Shop Now! also takes the customer directly to the product, where they then have to choose options, enter quantity, and then select Add To Cart from within that product page. Here's an example of a Category page where clicking Shop Now! takes you within the product:

    http://www.pipeanddrapeonline.com/Pr...apes_c_21.html

    That's wonderful!

My problem is that if the product DOES NOT have options to choose from, then clicking Shop Now! immediately adds the product to the cart and the customer ends up in the view_cart.asp page. Here's an example of a category page where selecting Shop Now! takes you directly to the shopping cart:

    http://www.pipeanddrapeonline.com/Su...Rods_c_18.html

I need a way to have a code where clicking Shop Now! ALWAYS takes the customer to the product page. Is this possible, and where could I find/change such a code if it is?

    Thanks in advance!
