  • Spam IP's?

Getting hammered by these two ip's, almost 1.7 gb. They show as coming from the same place in Virginia. Any ideas? How do I block these? Htaccess?

    108.59.0.106 and 108.59.0.109

    Thanks,
    David

From there? I don't have to do anything in the htaccess file which I'm clueless about.

I blocked the two that were hitting the site. Traffic stabilized. How did you figure out what bot it was?

every morning I check the IP stats from the prior day.
Report Items > Visitors > IP Address (sort by bandwidth)

Recently I saw IP addresses hit for large bandwidth
            108.59.0.108
            108.59.0.106
            108.59.0.109
            108.59.0.251

I googled the range and found 108 was twenga. Based on the large bandwidth from the same IP address range I banned it. It then fired up another IP address another day and did it again, repeated the ban and another IP address showed up... so I banned the entire range. No issues since. If it is a customer/competitor/whatever it shouldn't be sucking down that kind of data.

You can also use this website to plug in an IP and it will show if it is flagged as a bot

                3dcart should block this scam

I block their other ip 108.59.0.251 which took more then 500gb of bandwith in about 4-5 months.
This month twenga use other ip and took 20 gb of bandwith. I am now blocking whole ip series. Who know twenga will come again with totally different ip address again.

This is bad. I reported it to 3dcart support.
It would be better if 3dcart auto block these scam

I blocked a couple of ranges and then reported them to the isp. I also started blocking countries that I could care less about. Singapore, United Kingdom, France and a few others.

Did you have to enter a ton of IP ranges in order to block these countries? After doing a Google search I saw that there are websites that will provide IP ranges for various countries. I'm continuing to have lots of problems primarily with the Ukraine. The site I checked showed tons of IP ranges for this country.

I use these two to get the blocks. I don't put them all in at once. I use Smarter Stats to hone in on the ip's and then find the higher ones. I check the ip look-up to figure out which block to ban.

Just be careful with blocking. Even though you get traffic from other countries does not mean it is someone from that country. With the military and delegations all over the world you can feasibly get traffic from other countries. It's pretty easy to figure out if it's legit traffic or your getting slapped.
