  • Need help w/minor code change on cart page

    Fellow 3dcart users:

    I have an issue with my cart that is causing some abandonment. On the CART page, my payout shows a thumbnail next to the item. Because I do not have images linked to options, no matter what option is chosen, the one shown is always the main image.

    Here is what happens:
    • Color displayed does not change when different options are selected
    • This carries over onto the CART page
    • When a customer goes to the CART page, no matter what color they have chosen, ONLY THE MAIN IMAGE shows up on the page.
    • 3D Cart coding does not even display TEXT of what color they chose, adding to the confusion.
    • I have just changed the language of this from “View/Hide Options” to “CLICK HERE to see my size / color choices”. This should help.
    • Because the customer sees the WRONG color in the image, and NO COLOR AT ALL in the description, they bail.

    I want to change from displaying a thumbnail of the image, to the item # (ID #) from the 3dcart product catalog.

    Here is the current line of code:

    <td align="center"><!--START: itemthumbnail--><a href="product.asp?itemid=[ITEM_CATALOGID]"><img src="thumbnail.asp?file=[THUMBNAIL]" border="0" height="55" width="55"></a><!--END: itemthumbnail--></td>

    Can anyone advise how to change to do this? FYI site is atomic-moto dot com.

    Thanks,

    BP

    I don't have much to go on because I don't use product options on my site.

    But one question comes to mind, are your images logically related? For example you might have one called prodABC-black.jpg, prodABC-blue.jpg, prodABC-pink.jpg

    If the image names are predictable like that then you should be able to do something with it. Or does each option have a specific image assigned to it in the 3DCart backend? In this article:
    https://support.3dcart.com/Knowledge...ticle/View/160
    it appears that each option can be assigned an image.

      Thanks cbsteven, much appreciated!

      At this moment, it will be easier to delete the thumbnail image from the cart. that to set up the drop image function. Drop image is not fully baked at this time, needs some customizing to the product template, and is cumbersome to set up. I may do it at some point (if I stay) but for now I need to "fix" the checkout issue ASAP, as it is causing abandonment.

      Any help appreciated.

        So you just want to change the image to the catalog ID? Should be easy enough.

        In the view_cart page the variable for item id is [itemid]. So you should be able to delete this entire section:

        Code:
        <!--START: itemthumbnail--><a href="product.asp?itemid=[ITEM_CATALOGID]"><img src="thumbnail.asp?file=[THUMBNAIL]" border="0" height="55" width="55"></a><!--END: itemthumbnail-->
        And replace it with [itemid]

        Note that I don't know how itemid's work with products that have options... I'm not even sure how 3DCart implements options... If this doesn't work then let me know and I will make a test item with options tomorrow.
