  • Convert Manufacturer Drop Down List to Unordered List

    On the sidebar of my store, there is a drop down menu listing the Manufacturer using this code:

    Code:
    <!--START: FRAME_MANUFACTURER-->
                          <div class="column" id="column1">
                          <table width="230" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" style="background:#dd6f18; padding:17px 10px;">
                            <tr>
                              <td class="menu-headers">[frame_manufacturer]</td>
                            </tr>
                            <tr>
                              <td class="mod_bg" align="center">
                                <div style="text-align:center;">
                                   <form name="mfg" id="mfg" method="get" action="search_groups.asp">
                                    <select name="manf" onChange="this.form.submit();" id="Select1" class="textbox">
                                          <option value=0>select a brand...</option>
                                          <!--START: manufacturer_format-->
                                           <option value=[mfgid]>[manufacturer]</option>
                                          <!--END: manufacturer_format-->
                                    </select>
                                   </form>
                               </div>
                              </td>
                            </tr>
                          </table>
                          </div>
                          <div><img src="assets/templates/[template]/images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="15" alt="" /></div>
                          <!--END: FRAME_MANUFACTURER-->
    I would like to convert this to show the Manufacturer links in an unordered list. I know how to make a list with HTML, I just need to know how to use the 3dCart tags to accomplish this.

    kennyk3, you say "I would like to convert this to show the Manufacturer links in an unordered list". By this I assume you want to force who is listed first, who is listed 2nd, etc. Otherwise, I myself see no real reason for a list of mfg's not listed alphabetically.

    If so, instead of changing the code ... maybe you can add "01", "02", etc. to the front of the mfg's id to force the sort order you are looking for. I have not tested this. It's just a thought!

      Unordered List

      Settings > General > Manufacturers > Change your order. EASY! No coding required!

        I don't want to change the order the manufacturer's name is in. I want it to display as an unordered list instead of a drop down menu, like this:
        • Hasbro
        • Lego
        • Nerf

          Can you check your CSS files to see what these classes are doing:
          mod_bg and column
          You may force it to be a drop down, we have the manufacturer listed in list as you want but do not have those two classes

            This should be easy enough to do, but will require enough HTML knowledge to be comfortable playing around with the template file. I would start by taking this code:

            Code:
            <select name="manf" onChange="this.form.submit();" id="Select1" class="textbox">
            	  <option value=0>select a brand...</option>
            	  <!--START: manufacturer_format-->
            	   <option value=[mfgid]>[manufacturer]</option>
            	  <!--END: manufacturer_format-->
            </select>
            and try something like this:

            Code:
            <ul>
              <!--START: manufacturer_format-->
              <li><a href="something">[Manufacturer]</a></li>
              <!--END: manufacturer_format-->
            </ul>
            This will probably yield something close to an unordered list of manufacturers, but the links won't work. You will have to change the "something" to either a link to the manufacturer page that incorporates the [mfgid] variable, or maybe use a javascript snippet to submit the surrounding form...
