  • 3d Upsell

I bought 3d Upsell to try on one of my sites, because I think that something like this could be a useful tool.

But there is a glaring omission in the design (which tech support doesn't consider a bug... lol), you cannot disable "rules" that you set up regarding how the promotion displays work.

So if you want to set up a promotion for next week or next month, you cannot start working on it today. And when your advertisement period ends, you have to completely delete all the work you did in setting it up, and cannot save it to use again at a future date.

This is a pretty big design flaw, IMHO. And I will probably just cancel my order.

I can't figure out why this is a monthly subscription either? Is that so I can turn it off on the months I am not going to use it, and turn it on again when I want? LOL

Yeah, the tech doc I read made it seem not fully fleshed out and definitely not worth a subscription. I also am not sure that it isnt something that could be replicated for free with javascript..

This is like the Pinterest button add-on, only you pay every month. Yes it would be easy to do with Java Script.
The only benefit would be if there is a very robust admin page for this add-on (like the promotions page), which does not seem to be the case. And still I don't see why it should be a monthly subscription.
Both us and 3dcart need to pace ourselves with monthly fees, otherwise the monthly fee total can get out of hand.

It is definitely possible to do it with JavaScript, but it is worth it to me to pay for the convenience of the integration with the back end of 3dcart.

The problem is that they haven't made it very convenient. Part of the convenience would be the ability to set up multiple promotions into the future, something you cannot do easily by programming JavaScrip into your pages.

It is too bad that they left this important feature out.

We're really excited about the new 3dupsell plugin, it's a really simple tool that can easily help with sales.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you run into any issues, we put a lot of time developing this interface but we also understand that there is a lot of room for improvement.

The idea of adding start and end dates is great, we'll definitely add that to the list. For now, you can easily change the PAGE URL to a random text, i.e. "TEST" or "DISABLED" and that will prevent it from working, just switch it back when you're ready to turn that on.

It's all Javascript, CSS and JQUERY based, so you can easily create this type of promotions for your site, and merchants have already been doing it already.
The idea is to simplify that process and allow you to simply enable that from the backend, enter the URL or the image and launch the promotion.

The fact that is JQUERY based, makes it very sensitive to your HTML, so things like a missing HEAD or BODY tag on your HTML or perhaps an invalid DOCTYPE could easily cause the 3dupsell not to show up. We appreciate you reporting these type of issues and we'll be glad to help.

With 3dUpsell, we have planned to create promotional banners for our clients for major holidays, I believe a "July 4th" banner is already included in the first batch.

For any merchant that is interested in trying 3dupsell but is not sure about it, we'll offer a 30 day money back guarantee if you try it and is not happy with it.

          Jimmy Rodriguez.

Thanks Jimmy, this is helpful information.

I have one more suggestion. When you are installing the app for your customers, I think it would be best if you just go ahead and upload the promotional images you have created to the server, rather than sending us a link to the .zip files.

Since you are charging a (monthly) fee, you should make the setup, and maintenance as seamless a possible for the customer.

This is a question For anyone that has the app installed.

Does the app have different order triggers based on the shopping cart total.. So I can have one message for different order levels If I set up an exit banner on the View cart page.

I might want to offer certain order totals different offers. Orders over $1000 for instance may receive a 10% discount coupon whereas orders between 100 and 500 might only receive a $5 offer and orders less than $100 would get a mailing list signup.

Am I over-reaching or is this doable with this app? The spec sheet and KB article do not specify the triggers.

No, it is nothing like that... unless I am missing something...

It is pretty much just the javascript, which reveals some HTML (which is usually just an image with a link), which you link back to another page (custom page, category page, product page, etc.).

The main thing (from what I can tell) that sets it apart from setting up manually in javascript is that you can set up different advertisements for different pages.

Maybe Jimmy can chime in and give us more info on the benefits.

We didn't include that originally. But it was suggested to us a couple times, so we just went ahead and added the order amount rule where you can specify the min and max amounts for the 3dupsell promo to display.

This will be deployed to all 3dupsell users later this week, together with some other cool functionality, including Start and End dates, and "Referrer" where you can specify a keyword like google or yahoo and if this is included on the referrer then the promotion is triggered.

Jimmy, thank you for being responsive to customer suggestions and working to make 3dupsell a truly unique and versatile product. I just signed up.

                      Jimmy,

May I suggest a "Free Shipping" promotional banner?

Yes, we plan to add a new set of predesigned banners every couple months. I'll make sure the next batch includes a Free Shipping one.

It's a good idea, but only a faction of the functionality of other 3rd party services. Then again, it's also a fraction of the cost. For us, we're going with another option because of many features lacking in this.
