  • Show sale price in "You Might Also Like..."???

    Hi all!

    I add products to my cart. I go to checkout (view_cart.asp) and it has my order, plus on the bottom a section "You May Also Like" with 3 items. Two of the items shown are on sale, but the List Price (not sale price) is displayed.

    Anyone know what code I can add (and to what template) that would make the following rule:

    *IF an item is on sale, THEN show sale price in "You May Also Like" section*

    I should point out that the Related Items that show up in an individual product do in fact display the sale price (with the list price crossed out), just for whatever reason not in the View_Cart.asp page.

    Hopefully someone here has had experience with this, and I'm sure it would be beneficial to anyone's store! I couldn't find any answer searching the forum...

    Thanks in advance!

    Still can't figure this out...

    I've been trying to tweak this, but it's still not working...tried tech support, but they advised that I have a programmer design it for me (I assume at a cost), but I really don't want to pay for something that 1 - should have been a standard feature (in my opinion), and 2 - that is probably much easier to do than I think.

    I tried inserting the same code from the product template (listing_0):

    <!--START: SALEPRICE-->
    <s>[price]</s><br />
    <strong class="price">[product_onsale]: </strong>
    <div itemprop="price" id="price" style="display:inline;" class="price">[saleprice]</div></td>
    <td><img src="assets/templates/common/images/productpage_onsale.png" alt="On Sale" border="0" /></td>
    <!--END: SALEPRICE-->

    But then it just shows the code blocks on my view_cart.asp page...not the sale price. It just looks like code that shows up, without it actually referencing anything.

    Any one have a suggestion?

    Thanks in advance!
    James

      Not all variables are available in all templates.
      The code snippet you took from Listing template, will not necessarily work in others.

      For guidance of where you can use variables and what is available in each template use this guide: 3dCart Template Reference Guide
      The SALEPRICE is only available in listing and category templates.

        Thanks! That would probably explain why it showed up all weird haha.

        I appreciate it!

            I still cant figure this out. Anyone know how we could show the sale prices on View_Cart.asp in the "You May Also Like" section?

            Right now it shows the list price, even if the item is on sale. I want to make sure our customers see these related items at their discounted (sale) price for much more effective cross-selling.

            Ideas? Solving this would be beneficial to every 3dcart merchant :)

            Thanks in advance!

              I think this should also be included as a future feature request. Any time prices are displayed, if there is an applicable sale price, it should be displayed. There needs to be consistency throughout the site.

                I wholeheartedly agree! Not sure why any portion of any template wouldn't display the Sale price of an item for related/suggested add-on items. Goes against the common principle of eCommerce.

                  Just going to voice my opinion as well. This should really be fixed. It may not technically be a bug but it is most certainly a design flaw.

                    I don't think it's a bug, either. I don't think it was every coded that way in the first place (as you put it, "a design flaw"). My problem is I can't figure out how to correct it and make it right :(
