  • USPS Priority Rates

HI...just setting up shipping for my in progress site.

I have set up basic USPS Priority and USPS Standard shipping. All of my products have dimensions and weights and none of them have Ships By Itself turned on.

When I have just a couple of products (e.g. 3), the calculations as compared to USPS.com seem about right. When I double those products, it seems that the USPS Priority and Standard prices double, like it is calculating for 2 boxes instead of 1.

What does 3DC use to determine whether the items in the order warrant more than 1 box? How does it group product together to determine total dimensions? Is there a KB article on this somewhere?

My site is here: Garlic Festival Foods - Garlic seasonings and sauces from Gilroy

    Thanks!

We make our adjustments on the product page. If I am understanding you correctly, you can check the box. See link of picture. Larger products we mark, ships by self.

Thanks for the response. I have actual weights and dimensions entered for each of my products. They are of an average size and not large enough to warrant checking the "ships by itself feature".

My issues is that the rates seem fairly accurate for FedEx, but when you have 4 or more items, the price for USPS nearly doubles over when you only have 3 or less items.

I'm interested in knowing the algorithm 3DC uses to not only request rates from USPS, but also if/when they decide an order warrants more than 1 USPS box.
