  • Odd characters after URL

I'm using custom URLs and I've noticed strange characters attached to the end starting with the # sign:

    Garlicky Shrimp Scampi

Usually the # sign at the end of a URL signifies a bookmark, but I haven't placed any.

Can anyone tell me what this is?

The # can do a lot of things like trigger javascript on a page. But, where are you actually finding that link?

It's on my category listing page and was generate by 3DC.

If yoou look at this category page: Main Dishes - Garlic Festival Recipes

And click the Shrimp Scampi recipe, the browser will go to the page and append the odd characters to the URL.

I creates the odd # and then more for me on that recipe and others when I click on them. ADDSHOPPERS tracking will do that Elegant?

              I don't have AddShoppers...

CBSteven...you don't see this? Interesting. But Toobusy does see this. I'll play around it with a little more to see if I can find any patterns.

I have Google Analytics blocked on my Chrome. That may have something to do with it.

For us it is the AddShoppers that put ....html#axzz2dgfc3l00 for example.
It could be any other visitor tracking that is does this.

If you're using AddThis social share code, you have this parameter enabled in your code.

"Track when users share by copying your URL"

This will add a short hashtag to the end of your URLs. This lets us reveal how often visitors copy your URL from their address bar to share. Example: http://domain.com/page.html#UF0983

Remove below code or set to FALSE

                    <script type="text/javascript">var addthis_config = {"data_track_addressbar":true};</script>
