  • Checkout error - check your logs for bad URLs

    Fellow 3DCart users,

    I had a customer call today, saying that they had an issue checking out. It occurred when going from the view cart page to the checkout (1 page) page. She said she got a page error message when clicking forward.

    I looked at her abandoned order log, and saw this:

    Note two things: first, the session had a lot of back and forth from the cart to that page with the symbol. Second, note in the lower left the URP prefix that Firefox shows....with three slashes.

    I took her order by phone, and looked at other incomplete order logs. I saw a lot of this, finding the best example here:

    On this one, the log shows some URLs with the symbol that are bad...

    and some from the same session that are good:

    You can see these in the "view statistics" link on the incomplete orders. FYI, I was not yet able to contact this customer.

    After quite a lot of explaining, I got a ticket opened. We get calls about checkout problems from time to time, but there is never enough info to warrant research with support. This time I think there is.

    I do not know what is happening with the URLs, why one session would have two different types of URL. Really, really worries me to have this ON THIS DAY.

    Unfortunately these images are too blurry to read anything, at least to my eyes

      Agreed. I had to reduce the image quality to meet the file size guidelines. Maybe this will help:

        URL Issue

        I think I saw this once. Could the customer have had more than one window open while in the cart?

          Don't know. I do that all the time though.

          These errors are throughout my incomplete orders. I would be pretty disappointed if the checkout would not work because multiple tabs or windows were open.

              This is a stupid question, but what logs do you check (and where do you find them)?

                Go to "Not Completed" orders....click "view" on one....there is a line that says "referrer". On the far right, click "view statistics". Many will be blank, but you can see a click path on many.

                  Yes, that DOES help, I never knew about that (after 3 years of 3D Cart you'd think I'd know about something like that). Very helpful, I appreciate it!
