What type of SEO help are you looking for, specifically? On-site optimization, or are you looking to build backlinks?

With all the google changes, content is king more so than optimization. Additionally, google is now penalizing sites that are over optimized. Spend your time and effort on making your site more valuable for your customers.

Right, but, what are you looking to optimize and how? Or is that part of what you need help determining?

Unless you plan on paying very large amounts, I don't suggest going with a SEO service. I know more than a bit about SEO but due to time constraints, I paid $500 monthly for a service and found that my monthly package included 10 fairly spammy blog links (that might be bad for my site in the long run), "optimized pages" that haven't seen more traffic than prior to their optimization, some blog posts that got significantly less hits than anything I'd written and a monthly consultation that only happened once in three months. Also, for my $500, the consultation didn't include an analysis of my site's keywords and specific recommendations for overall optimization.

As was stated, "content is king." I suggest that you start learning over at SEOMOZ or on other sites across the internet. Also, you'll want to make sure that anything you learn from has been recently updated. The entire SEO game changed this year when I signed up for this SEO service. I assumed that the professionals would be up to date and offer a package that had taken into account the present SEO landscape. Unfortunately, trusting these lower cost services, even if they're from a company you trust for other things, might just be throwing your money out the window.

All that said, I only have experience with this one company but if I didn't know more about SEO and hadn't kept spending time doing research, I'd still be paying them.

I don't think that there is an SEO firm worth recommending!

As previously noted, work on content and the rest should take care of itself.
