  • Masterpass and Visa Checkout

    Has anyone else had any problems trying to implement either Masterpass and/or Visa Checkout? I've submitted a support ticket on both but I'm just curious why I'm having so many problems when support tells me that nobody else is having any issues.

    Visa Checkout doesn't load at all. Apparently they must have been able to duplicate this error as support is now working on this.

    Masterpass loads for me but I'm not able to add a Visa card when testing. In fact, the Visa card logo doesn't even appear. When I added a Visa card anyway, and then tried to use it, I got a message saying that the "merchant doesn't accept this card". I do have Visa checked in my configuration. Wow! Not good at all.....

    I added a Mastercard and correctly added the expiration date. That wouldn't go through, citing an invalid expiration date. Double checked to be sure I entered the correct info and I did. Next time I tried to check out with Masterpass selecting that same card, it just looped back to the checkout page. No messages at all.

    For what it's worth, I use Stripe as my payment gateway.

    Did you fill out the applications and received approvals?

    I did, and never heard back, although I am not sure about the wisdom of implementing them. In their FAQ's they say there are not fees "at this time", so do I want to train my customers to use these so I have to pay them fees later.
    Also, with every new payment method we offer, it seems like there is more customer confusion with them trying to sign up for the new service, etc, which leads to more abandoned carts. Just my thoughts. What do you think?

      I never got an E-mail saying that I was approved. The message appeared in the module itself. You might want to check that. If you can activate it, then you've been approved. Support is trying hard to fix this, but so far, no luck. Neither module works the way it should, at least not for me.

      I think you raise a good point about the fees. Stripe already allows my customers to save their credit card information if they choose to, and they don't charge a cent for that service, unlike Authorize.net that wanted $20.00 a month last time I knew. I don't "need" these services. I wanted to implement them to see if they would attract customers who won't use anything but Paypal. I will not use Paypal as a payment option on my site.

      Maybe the way to go is to wait until Masterpass and Visa Checkout become more widely known and customers start asking for it. I signed up for Visa Checkout personally months ago when it was still known as V.me. I liked the fact that they send you an E-mail (configurable) whenever your card is used or if the charge is over a certain amount, depending upon how you set it up. I thought my customers might find it attractive as well, which is why I started asking for it way back when.

      I would still like to know if anybody else has implemented and if it's working for them. If nobody else is using it, that might explain why support isn't hearing about any problems. :)

      You've got me thinking though. Thanks! I do have a tendency sometimes to jump on the bandwagon too quickly.

        Masterpass did not work for me. I applied and was approved but it would not activate for my store. Everything was set up according to their directions. I tried a few times then gave up for now. I just turned it off until I have time to fiddle with it.

            Did you get an answer for this? I do not seem to be able to get Visa Checkout to show up on our site.

              Pack Secure -- I successfully enabled Visa Checkout. I think i takes a few days before it is approved on their end (??)
