  • How to uncheck the subscribe box in checkout?

    I am fiddling around with the single page checkout and I noticed that the checkbox to subscribe to the newsletter box is pre-checked. This is a nono with mailchimp and the CASL laws.

    "When requesting consent, checkboxes cannot be pre-filled to suggest consent. Each subscriber must check the box themselves for consent to be valid."

    I must be really tired but I cannot figure out how to have it default to unchecked. How would I edit this in the code and where would I find it??

    Thanks in advance!

    Wow we all have our reasons. In the past it was unchecked. I changed to checked and hidden on the the template page. Silly me!

      Godesign. I am a coding newbie so I'm not sure what you meant in your reply. I still want to have the checkbox there, but not have it pre-checked to be compliant. Could you tell me or cut and paste the line of code that I would need to change?

      Thank you,
      Dana

        Hi Danab

        go to your checkout-singlepage.html

        find this section between blocks:
        HTML Code:
                  <!--END: confirm_email-->
                  <div class="chkField">
                      <div class="checkbox-format">
                          <input type="checkbox" value="1" name="maillist" [maillist] tabindex="13" />
                          <label for="maillist">[checkout1_joinmailinglist]</label>
                          <div class="clear"></div>
                      </div>
                    <div class="clear"></div>
                  </div>
                  <!--START: account_login2-->
        Change:

        value="1"

        -to-

        value="0"

        SAVE - Clear cache if active

        That should do it.

        Thanks,
        Shaun
