  • Facebook "Like" Error

When I click the facebook "like" button next to any of my products it comes back with the following error:

Indicates that a URL property has whitespace characters, which is not allowed.: URL 'http://www.bead3.com/assets/images/beads/czech glass/lentils1/sapphire.jpg' for property 'og:image:url' of the object at 'http://www.bead3.com/50-Beads--1-Hole-Lentil--6mm--Sapphire_p_5083.html' is invalid because it contains whitespace characters.

Anybody know what this means or how to fix it?

    Thanks for your help!

When I use the Facebook share button on the left side of the screen (not the like button under the item) the item description does show up on facebook but with an empty box where the picture would be. Anybody have any ideas on this either?

Mine would not work, then it would work, then it wouldn't and I finally got tired of messing with it and removed it, but I'm interested if someone has an answer, I just know it was so buggy

        Hi Rod,

Try taking the space our of one or your category URLs

        http://www.bead3.com/assets/images/beads/czech glass/lentils1/sapphire.jpg

There's a space in "czech glass". Try taking the space out of your image path name where you store your images. This is probably also the reason why your image isn't showing as this is a path name to an image.

          Try using

          http://www.bead3.com/assets/images/b...1/sapphire.jpg

As mentioned in a previous post you have a space in czech glass - replacing the space with %20 works. Suggestion - always go to your file manager and click on the image then copy the URL direct - that way you get the right URL and avoid issues like this.

            Hi Rod

I do not see the Facebook like button on your site - were the problems with it on your home page or on the item page - can you fill in some more dtails.

            Thanks
            Rob

Thank you for the advice. I removed the facebook like button from the products. I have several thousand products so it will be some work to remove spaces from the names and then point the products back to the new pictures. Not sure if people liking on Facebook will be worth all the effort.
