  • New Email Conformation Feature

    First off, let me say that I am thrilled to see an option that forces customers to type their e-mail address twice. It will result in far fewer mistakes. That said, I believe the current implementation of the feature can be improved greatly with the following considerations:

    1) E-mail confirmation needs to ALSO appear on the register.asp account creation page. If the goal in providing e-mail confirmation is to reduce mistakes, then why only have it on the checkout page? I would like to see this implemented on the account creation page as well. It just makes sense that way - yes?

    2) When a customer is already logged in, they shouldn't have to confirm their e-mail address on the checkout page. Confirm e-mail on signup? Yes, totally. Confirm e-mail when already logged in? No - that doesn't make sense - it's an extra and unnecessary step.

    Do the rest of you agree? Can we get some support for these considerations?

    Not to mention that it needs to be implemented in Multi-Step Checkout.

    If something is a good idea to be implemented somewhere, it would seem that the should be global.

      As far as confirming email on Registration, that will probably have to have official 3DCart support.

      I don't think you need to have the email address fields show up if the customer is logged in, though. In checkout-step1 there is a block labeled:

      <!--START: account_login-->
      <!--END: account_login-->

      The code inside this block only triggers if the user is not logged in. By default this is where the email entry and confirmation fields go. Double check to make sure you didn't modify yours to change that block

        I definitely did not modify it. Support told me that since it's a new feature, the devs would like to receive feedback on it. So, here's to feedback :)

              It is in the checkout-step1.html template file, so the first step of the multi-step checkout.

                Thank you for the update. The release notes said it is for One Step Checkout.
