  • repeat customer credit card info not available

when we first started using 3DCart, we tested this function and it worked. That is, when a customer uses a credit card online as payment, subsequent transactions offer the option to choose (another radio button with the last 4 of the CC) the card used previously. Got a call from a customer earlier today and they said they had to re-enter their CC info.

tested with a valid card and sure enough, the card info is not retained/no option to choose stored card.

I checked Settings-Payment-Online Methods and validated "Save the customer info for future transactions" is checked.

Is there somewhere else this function might have been accidentally turned off? Something else we might have done?

This functionality relies on the Authorize.net CIM (customer information manager). Is that enabled on your Authorize.net account?

I'm not sure where to check that. Is that a 3DCart setting, or something to validate with Authorize.net?

        With Auth.net:

          thanks.
gonna have to work on getting access to authorize.net to log in to that link. We've never done it. Must be some new policy/setting that has broken the previously working function.

Is this a feature for authorize only or for other payment methods? What percent per transaction does authorize charge?

This only works with Auth.net and they charge a flat like $15/month.

Dibble, you don't have an Auth.net login? Are you a customer of theirs?

I'm thinking this is when the function disappeared. Just never noticed the loss of the function until someone complained.

I have our accounting dept. calling USAePay to see if they offer a similar feature.

                thanks again.

It doesn't matter if USAPay offers a similar feature, 3dcart only supports Authorize.net's CIM

I can't imagine that the ability to retain credit card information on the cart backend is dependent upon the gateway. We don't use Auth.net and our customers' card information is securely stored for later purchases.

The reason why it requires a certain gateway is that 3DCart does not want to bear the responsibility to store the card data themselves. With CIM they offload the storage to Authorize.net's servers. As far as I know they only support the CIM for this kind of service. It is possible that they implemented other gateways for it but I could not find anything referencing that in their support page.

Actually, we support Tokenization (same as Authorize.net CIM) for the following gateways:

                          • Authorize.Net
                          • 1st PayGateway.net
                          • ProPay
                          • Go eMerchant
                          • Paymentech Orbital Gateway
                          • USA ePay

And yeah, there is no extra charge with USAePay which is the gateway used by BankCard Services
