  • Release Notes 5.2.1

Just noticed that we are now on 5.2.1.

Haven't seen any release notes about it.

Does anybody know whats changed or been added or why the update?

The only change I have noticed so far is that we are no longer able to delete our not completed orders. Our only options are to either open each order and empty the carts one by one, or wait until enough time passes for the 3dCart system to purge them. Few things are more irritating than an update that actually takes away features that we use on a daily basis.

Why would you delete UN-completed orders? They don't bother anything, and a customer might come back and finish it.
Un-completed orders do not affect inventory.

We have reasons, and those you pointed out, may or may not be it. It's not for you or 3dcart to decide when removing previously available functionality. Perhaps we don't want customers completing uncompleted orders. Perhaps we don't want stale orders taking up space in the database. Perhaps we want faster admin panel page loading times. Perhaps our products change often and uncompleted orders contain invalid product or are otherwise invalid links. Perhaps we don't offer customers the ability to complete uncompleted orders that are more than 24 hours old, that is our operating policy. That's not for 3dcart to determine our policy we have long established.

We often have customers who start placing their order and don't complete it, but later place their order on a different computer. This leaves their original order in the Not Completed section. We monitor that and delete the duplicates so these customers don't receive the Not Completed order email. We purge the carts filled by bots as well, because they distort the abandoned cart data.

We like to delete our uncompleted orders so the customers who complete them, don't get bothered with our " Would you like to complete your order..." emails. Some have multiple going and then they get an email for each one. I prefer being able to delete old, useless data from our admin panel. But hey, that's just me.
