  • Responsive Email coding issue, can't find where the issue begins

    Hi all,

    On one of our websites I've been slowly migrating all of the outdated non-responsive emails (Order Shipped, New Order - Customer, etc.) to the new HTML 5 Responsive emails. I'm glad I didn't do it to all of our websites, because I'm noticing an issue with the New Order - Customer email.

    Customer receives their Order Confirmation Email (New Order - Customer) and it has the thumbnail picture of the item purchased, and underneath that, it shows a snippet of coding.

    I'm not great with coding, but I *think* the issue is somewhere in this portion of the email's code:

    <!--START: thumbnail-->
    <img src="[store_url]/[thumbnail]" alt="[itemname]" width="80" style="width: 80px !important; outline: none; text-decoration: none; -ms-interpolation-mode: bicubic; max-width: 100%; float: left; clear: both; display: block; padding: 0 10px 0 0;" align="left" /><!--END: thumbnail--></td>

    In this case, it will show the item thumbnail picture, and directly underneath it shows the following code:

    Color: Burgundy" width="80" style="width: 80px !important; outline: none; text-decoration: none; -ms-interpolation-mode: bicubic; max-width: 100%; float: left; clear: both; display: block; padding: 0 10px 0 0;" align="left" />

    Does anyone see anything in the bold coding that might be causing this to happen? FYI, I don't think I changed any of the original coding "out of the box" in that bold section at all, so I really have no idea why it's doing this...

    Thanks in advance!
    James

    Maybe the [itemname] has a " or a > in it that is closing the <img> tag before it should be. Try replacing the [itemname] with plain text (e.g.; 'Product Thumbnail') and see if that fixes the issue.
    HTML Code:
    <!--START: thumbnail-->
    <img src="[store_url]/[thumbnail]" alt="Product Thumbnail" width="80" style="width: 80px !important; outline: none; text-decoration: none; -ms-interpolation-mode: bicubic; max-width: 100%; float: left; clear: both; display: block; padding: 0 10px 0 0;" align="left" /><!--END: thumbnail--></td>

      Thanks TMS Clint! How you knew that it was related to the alt tag in the coding, I have no idea, but I completely removed it from the code, saved, hit "Preview" and it looks like it will be working perfectly now on the next order that comes in! The snippet of coding that showed underneath the product image thumbnail on the email (which showed in the preview before I removed the code) is now gone!

      I appreciate the help!
