Is there a setting that can take off the "add to cart" button when products from a search are listed? I prefer the customer to click the photo or the name to see the product details before adding it to the cart. When they do a search and just click the "add to cart" button, they miss some important information.

I want my customers to ALWAYS go into the full product description before adding to their cart. So I created a generic option template that has NO options. I created a check box. I applied this a global option to ALL products.

Then I changed the wording of the button from ADD TO CART to VIEW DETAILS.

Now on every single product the customer goes to the product detail. They do not see any option there and are not required to select anything.

My site is www.cobwebcorner.com if you want to see how it works. Select the cross stitch category - as the jewelry almost always has options for size etc.

    Hope this helps

You can change where the 'buy' Link is pointing to to product.asp & [catalogid] and change the text from Buy to something like 'View Details'.

change it in search.html to something like:

      <td height="20" class="item" align="center" valign="middle"><a href="product.asp?itemid=[catalogid]"><u>[category_buyitlink]</u></a></td>

Those are both great ideas--thank you! By the way, Cekman, I was unable to view your crosstitch page--wasn't working this morning. :(

rrw - thanks for the heads up! I love getting up in the morning and the first thing I read is that my site doesn't work.

I checked it immediately and it worked for me - if you don't mind- give it a try again and let me know if it works for you. May be a browswer issue or something.

Hopefully it was just a glitch. Thanks for letting me know - I appreciate it.

Yep, works for me now--sorry to give you a heart attack! It was just strange that all of your other pages worked fine except for that one. Nice site! :)
