  • 3dcart's Blog and Products

I'm looking at using 3dcart's Blog with all its amazing features (just a bit of sarcasm there). One thing I can't figure out. Is there a way to link specific products to a blog post?

Good question. I'll go snoop around on my blog and see if there is, never thought about that but I do need to revamp, reorder, and better categorize my blogs and that's a good reason to start. I hope there is, it's a great idea.

      AmagArtwork How do you mean?

If you create a blog post, you can click the "Advanced" button and are able to create a custom filename for that post. In your product, you can then just make a normal text/image link with that relative path as the link.

Alot of folks hit my blog long before they begin shopping. If there was an option to link the blog post to the products mentioned in the blog that would be great, so I guess, from looking at one of my posts, I could link a url to the different products talked about in the actual blog. That's the only way I can see to do it.

Our previous provider had the ability to link products to the articles (technically not a blog, but similar idea). Products were shown at the bottom of the post with a link to the details page.

I know the blog is not the best, but the foundation is there. It needs to be customized. We are improving ours at IslandJay.com/blog.

Every product, on the Advanced tab, has the buy button URL - you can style it however you want and link to it: <a href="[your url]/add_cart.asp?out=1&quick=1&item_id=[item_id]"><img src="[path-to-your-buy-button]/buy.gif" border=0></a>.

AmagArtwork - I use this feature a lot - I persist with the blog as I do believe in not splitting my SEO with 2 platforms - but I long for more functionality. In the WSYWIG view - highlight your text and then click on the Page Link -> Product / Category. It is one thing that does work well.

That's great to hear. I'll be working on it in the coming months.

P.S. fabricgarden If you weren't all the way in Aussie-land, I'd be buying some material. :(

AmagArtwork - lol - glad to help from downunder (as the Aussies call it). I have been trying to get some of the bugs ironed out in the blog. The most frustrating one at the moment is that DRAFT doesn't mean draft. It simply hides the article from your blog, but crawlers find it and publish it on all RSS feeds. I want to be able to really scheduled my blog posts. I FINALLY got it accepted as a bug and hopefully, it will be fixed some time soon. In the interim - I write my entire article in Word, then copy and paste and effectively publish immediately, so I don't have half an article up on Google Feedburner etc.
