  • FedEx Rates Not Showing Up Every Time

    Hello,

    We've been experiencing an issue for a few weeks now where FedEx rates won't show up most of the time in the cart, or in checkout, until you refresh the page at least once. USPS shows up every time. Wanted to see if anyone else has been experiencing this. I included two attachments. One shows USPS rates only, the other shows FedEx rates that appear after I refresh the page.

      Support did some digging for us and found out that FedEx isn't returning rates when requested. We've contacted FedEx and are waiting to see what they say. Any info we get back from them I'll be sure to share. Hopefully it's just us!

        I got an email today from FedEx as follows:

        March 2016


        Important Transport Layer Security (TLS) Communication Protocol Update Affecting Your Shipping with FedEx

        To improve your shipping experience and to ensure your data remains encrypted, the security communication protocol for your current FedEx Ship Manager® Server software must be updated to TLS. Migration to the new security protocol began on March 1, 2016 and all FedEx Ship Manager Server systems must be updated with the TLS protocol by August 1, 2016.

        Systems that have not upgraded to the TLS protocol may not be able to communicate with FedEx and will not be able to process shipments.

        Are you still having issues and could this be part of that problem? I don't ship FedEx frequently so I don't know if I can get a fedex quote, etc.

          Thanks for posting this Toobusy. We are still experiencing the issue, but it's intermittent, so I don't know if this is related or not. It is happening on both of our websites, though. Since they are on different servers I can only assume it's happening to other stores as well. Still waiting to hear what FedEx has to say about it.

            I'm not sure from the email if there's anything that needs to be done, although it does contain a link for a patch for the TLS protocol. I don't think that's something we have access to run

            NOTE: To avoid any shipping interruption, please run theTLS protocol file during scheduled down time. Running this security protocol will restart all FedEx Ship Manager Server services which will impact your ability to ship with FedEx.

              I found two other 3dcart websites having the same issue as us. I notified them to let them know what's up. Still waiting on something from FedEx.

                Are you and those stores at 7.2.0 or 7.2.1? I'm at 7.2.0 and my fed ex rate is showing up, but only one rate, residential home delivery my other fed ex rates are not populating and I have three rates/methods enabled....glad I checked it but it doesn't do me any good because even when I refresh I don't get ground or overnight, only home delivery rate shows

                  Both of my stores are 7.2.0. I can't say what the others are. We don't offer the Home Delivery option, so I can't say whether or not that one would have come up without the others. Have you tried a few different products?

                    Yes the parameters are the same on all the options 0-20 pounds so all the methods should display, they used to anyway. I'm not just sure when they stopped

                      Toobusy, I just went to your site to check out the shipping rates and yours is doing the same as ours. I entered a zip code and only USPS options came up. I hit the calculate shipping button again and then I could see FedEx options. I'd contact your FedEx rep and let them know what's going on. Maybe if more people chime in they'll have more info to help them figure it out.

                        I spoke with support and they were able to get the fedex option on a set of grommets, 1 ounce, but I never could on a wiper motor. No one wants grommets overnight but they do want the wiper motors overnight. Then support wrote back and said they were getting an error on fedex populating:

                        I ran a test on my end and was able to duplicate the issue. I was able to check the communication between the cart and the carrier and found that they are returning this error:

                        HighestSeverity>FAILURE</HighestSeverity>
                        <Notifications>
                        <Severity>FAILURE</Severity>
                        <Source>crs</Source>
                        <Code>7</Code
                        ><Message>Rating is temporarily unavailable, please try again later. </Message>
                        <LocalizedMessage>Rating is temporarily unavailable, please try again later. </LocalizedMessage>

                        It seems that FedEx may be having an issue on there end that is causing them not to return any rates. To find out more on what may be causing this issue I would suggest that you contact FedEx directly for more information. I have attached a copy of the the full XML request and response and you will just need to provide this to them in order for them to investigate.

                        Ive contacted FedEx and the first question I was asked was about the TLS protocol....so I forwarded that email to support?

                          I've been seeing this as well over the past few days -- just now -- no Fedex rates, checked again 15 seconds later and they showed up.

                            Yep, we're still experiencing the issue, too. We have FedEx working with 3dcart trying to get it taken care of.
