  • Bing Code Placement

I added Bing code to footer. Tag manager says it is working. But, my test order is not showing in the stats. Do I need to add the code to Checkout #4? The KB says to use the footer. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I realized I needed to add the code to Checkout #4. But, Bing is asking for "Thank You" destination url. Could someone let me know what you used please?

Unfortunately, windycityparrot's suggestion is not going to work. Every order gets a unique Thank You page URL, so copying and pasting that URL is definitely not the answer. I have searched far and wide, not only on this forum, but in 3DC knowledgebase articles as well as on Google to see if anybody, anywhere has provided a real answer. I've even called 3DC support and they were unable to provide anything but vague answers, I suspect because they know their cart but don't really know how people use their cart and how it integrates with other things like Bing ads. I have never been able to get Bing conversion tracking to work, but I'll keep trying. My current test is setting up the conversion URL with Bing's "begins with" radio button selected and the secure URL version of https://www.yourwebsitename.com/checkout_thankyou.asp (if you do not have your own SSL, your website's thank you page will begin with https://www.yourwebsitename-com.3dca...t_thankyou.asp). Also keep in mind that your URL may or may not be configured to include the www.

We'll see how this latest test goes and I'll report what I find.

OK, test completed and successful (yay!). I've been trying to figure this out for a year and finally got it right.

First, you need to download the Bing UET tag from the Conversions > UET section on the left sidebar panel in your Bing Admin. The only way I could get it to work is by opening the frame.html template and inserting that code just before the closing </head> tag. This is the same place that I added the Bing Webmaster Tools site verification code, incidentally.

Next, just to be sure the tag is working correctly, you should download the Bing UET Tag Helper extension for Chrome as explained here - https://help.bingads.microsoft.com/#apex/3/en/56775/2

After you have ensured it is working, you need to set up a Conversion Goal. Click the New Conversion Goal button, name your conversion goal something that makes sense (like "Sale at MyWebsite.com") and choose the Destination URL radio button (which should be selected by default). Click the NEXT button and on the ensuing page, change the default "Equals to" to "Begins With" from the drop-down menu. As I explained above, you cannot simply paste in the thank you page URL you get from a test order because it has a bunch or unique characters appended to the end to the URL that are particular to that order. The URL you enter needs to either be https://www.yourwebsitename.com/checkout_thankyou.asp or https://www.yourwebsitename-com.3dca...t_thankyou.asp changing "yourwebsitename.com" to whatever your real URL is and making sure to include the www if your thank you page includes the www. In other words, if you copied the URL from a test order, get rid of everything AFTER ".asp". You can put in a value for the conversion if you want (that is, if you have an estimated average profit for a sale). I'm sure there is some way to enter variables to get the real order value but I didn't need to do that and this is convoluted enough as it is! Finally, click SAVE.

That's it. You do not need to paste anything into the checkout-4.html file of your website for Bing.

Do a test order by clicking on a Bing Shopping ad, which will take you to your website. You can order that product or anything else. Then, wait a day and that order should show up as a conversion in the Bing Shopping admin panel.
