  • Import Selected Fields to Database

    Hi,

Is it possible to import selected fields in to a data base, or do you have to import the whole database each time you need to upload changes?

For instance I need to change/add 2 lines to every product description, and add 2 new sub-menus to most products, with no other changes anywhere else.

Can this be done easliy, or do I need to download the whole database, then make changes, then upload the whole database again

    Thanks,

    Richard

Yes, you can upload a file with a few as 2 columns - id and price, for example - and only the prices for the products you specify would change. After the file uploads you need to select the second option, which reads:
    Update only
Update any records that are found in your current product database

If you choose the wrong option then you will wreck your product table. I suggest creating a product table backup that runs automatically each day so you can have a way to quickly roll back any screw-ups.

      Hi DeanP,

      Thanks for the info.

Can you clarify this, " I suggest creating a product table backup that runs automatically each day". Is this done through 3dcart Admin?

If yes, can you link the page for me.

      Thanks,

      Richard
