ebeegirl Reading the error it seems the gateway module couldn't connect to the processor's server. Which gateway was used when attempting this transaction? Also, have you contacted the gateway company to see if they are having any problems getting transactions?

it was actually paypal iteself - I had to manually run the transaction removing some security measures to do so. It was strange - she had an address that contained a hyphen in the digits and my best guess is that is what was causing paypal to deny any attempt to charge her.

ebeegirl Thanks for the update, that's good to know for anyone getting this error in the future.

I had that happen several weeks ago. After an hour or so, it corrected itself. For some reason it just couldn't connect to the Paypal servers.
