  • Are your USPS shipping calculations down?

Morning! I just realized our USPS real time shipping calculations are down. I put in a ticket but was wondering if anyone else is having this problem today or if it is just me (its 10:00 am CO time)?

    Thanks,
    Dana

SkersR1 3dcart told me to contact USPS. Waiting time was over an hour with USPS tech support. I just checked and our calculations are back online. Phew! I will keep an eye on it today to make sure it doesn't go wonky again.

This is pretty nice site to check API outages for USPS, UPS, FedEx. https://www.shippingapimonitor.com/index.html

Shows USPS had an issue for over an hour.

This is a good solution and sign up for email alerts as well. When there appears to be a long-term issue with any carrier, I put a pop up on my Cart Page telling customers that a certain carrier is down for rates, they can either wait or choose another carrier and we will contact them if we need to adjust for better rates.

JoeBTI Thanks for the link! I added it to my bookmarks. Birdsafe We only use USPS since all of our items are small and pretty light. I programmed another first class custom option yesterday (custom shipping calcs still worked without USPS). So the only ones that would not have had any shipping methods available to them were international orders. We don't have many of those. I left the custom option up so if I miss an outage in the future, our least expensive shipping option will still show up and hopefully we won't lose any sales. =)

Danab -- that sounds like a good solution but keep in mind that -- as I have found out -- any Custom shipping option will be selected by default -- so if your customer goes to check out and even through USPS Priority may be cheaper, if they don't see it -- and many don't -- you will get orders with your custom shipping option and you may have to do a refund or adjustment to the customer's order. This is one area of 3dCart I wish they would fix/change - either make the cheapest option of all shipping options selected by default, or no option at all -- or better yet, give me the choice under Settings.

Old but it may still work to reorder the shipping option displays?
