  • Quick Cart Issues

Got the following complaint from a customer:
"Your new website is extremely annoying. I'm trying to order multiple items from the "All Products" screen. After each selection one, the Cart pops up, taking up a large area of the screen, and won't go away without clicking the X to close it, whereupon I get taken to the TOP of the "All Products" screen, and have to scroll through it time after time to find where I left off before my ordering process was interrupted. Placing an order takes 10 times as long as it did on the old site!!!"

The problem is in Quick Cart when you click continue shopping it refreshes the page and takes you back to the top. This is not the first time we have had this complaint.

Anybody else have this issue and found a resolution?

How abut changing the setting so that "Continue Shopping" goes back to the product page? Or, you could have someone custom code the continue shopping action to just close the window, like the X does.

Thanks for your response. The problem is when the customer is on a category page with many products. So there isn't a product page to go back to. Just closing the window doesn't help because the page refresh happens in the background right after you click add to cart.

I contacted Shaun at The Cart Designer and he said there was much to be done programmatically for the issue. That is was hard wired in the 3dcart code. He suggested going from a single column to a triple column layout so there isn't as much scrolling. That is what we are doing for now.

That's a good idea. you could also just ditch the "All products" all together and break it down in to logical categories. I did as I didn't see a need to display all products at once.

          How about this:
          • Change the addtocart action in the admin to "none"
          • Have Shaun add some javascript to display a center popup message whenever addtocart is clicked
          • Message to say something like "Item Successfully Added To Your Cart"
          • Popup message to have a timer or button to close it
Assuming you just want the customer to know the item was added to the cart.

          Some cool examples here: https://sweetalert2.github.io/

Or is there a specific reason you need the quickcart?

Interesting idea JoeBTI. I'll check with Shaun.

Unfortunately the add to cart triggers a page reload which nullifies the use of script to alert an item added. It has all been tested before back when I built the original drop cart and beyond.
