  • Product Reviews - SPAM?

    I am getting frequent "reviews" that I will call SPAM, advertising PORN and other nasties! :mad:
    Anyway to avoid this?
    I know the IP address and it's from Amsterdam

    Don't you hate that?

    I haven't checked the new demo release yet - but didn't someone say the CAPTCHA (sp?) was going to be on that?

    Also - will the new release allow you to block an IP address?

    Maybe you'll have some help when the new release is put into production??

    I'm not sure about either of these.

      I like the ability to offer reviews, but, I'm getting like 4-5 of these from the same SPAMMER each day. :mad:
      I don't auto approve reviews, but, it's still a hassel...:(
      How do others handle this?

        I think the new release does both - captcha and IP blocking, so that will solve most of your spam issues.

          I get 52 bogus reviews on one of our sites every day...so I share your frustration.

          On the other site, I'm getting a few bogus incomplete orders every day from an IP address in Amsterdam. I'm using the beta version of the new software on this site now. If I can pinpoint the IP address or group of addresses - I'll definitely be attempting to block it/them.

          I'll let you know how it works out.

            I have to turn off the feature. I really like the review feature but it's a vulnerability as far as I can tell.
            I can't use the review feature of 3dcart unless they can tell us how to avoid this crap!

              Do you make your customers log in to do a review? That is an option--seems to have helped me.

                  I'm so sorry, Mark! That feature is on the new version, but not the current one. I could have sworn that we turned it on here, but I think I was confused with my prior cart.
