Good to know that it can be done. Should be a standard feature about 10 years ago.

I can say from a lot of experience that many customers despise being charged for an order before it ships.
Interesting. We only charge first. Ship second. I could not imagine shipping first because there would be so many scammers that would never pay.

Not at all. The card is authorized for the order total when the customer orderes. The amount is then captured when you decide to capture it. Typically when you pick and pack the order and it's ready to ship. It's a win/win.

we capture at time order is placed - then again we rarely have anyone cancel an order - sounds like a lot of extra work to authorize and then capture once order is shipped. Then again we ship all orders within 24-48 hours. It almost sounds like stores that need to capture without billing first might not have everything in inventory and thus the concern and customers are then upset they were charged. For the rare instance perhaps 2-3 times per year that happens we let the customers know and they either get something else or we refund their card, but they know within hours of ordering if there is any type of issue.

It is a lot of work without the batch functionality built in. We have a huge warehouse but we still can't stock everything here. It's just not practicle for us. We also do a lot of custom work.
