  • Changing order of payment options

Hoping someone can help me. Am working in a sandbox account with a site to replace my old one, so I'm guessing I'm working with the latest version. I use two payment options--Stripe and Paypal. In the past, I have been able to change around the order of the payment options by simply editing html code on checkoutsinglepage.html--basically switching around blocks of code. However, this is not seeming to work on the new version. I have tried Paypal, Paypal Express, and Braintree (with which I also have an account)...and it seems that each of these options is going to be placed before Stripe regardless of how I move the code around. This is very frustrating. It seems that there is some script or something reordering to put a Paypal-related option at the top of the list regardless of what I do to the html.

Also, I liked the old layout MUCH better since the credit card fields were automatically displayed and the customer doesn't have to click a radio button to make the fields appear. For some older customers and for some with small cell phone screens--this is an issue.

I've attached how my old site looks and how my new site is behaving. Can someone give me any insight on A) how to put the credit card option as the first payment option and B) how to select it automatically so that those fields appear?

    Thanks in advance.

This seems like an easy fix right? Allow us the option to sort the order of checkout options? We use the same payment options, and I am running the Legacy Stripe version because the "New" version doesn't select the radio button by default. My concern is, it does select check/money order by default and we will end up with an uptick of unpaid but completed orders.

I would really like to be able to set the order. We accept Credit Cards with Authorize as our gateway. We also offer paypal (begrudgingly). I would like the credit card option to be sorted first with Paypal 2nd to hopefully decrease the number of customers that use the paypal as they assume it is the default.......

I moved 3 payment code blocks recently and it worked fine. (Don't use paypal tho) Sort option would be sweet.

Thanks for the replies so far. I guess what I am seeing here--others are having the same issue. Would someone from 3dcart please comment on this? Why does Paypal or one of theirs have to be first? Why not give us the option of reordering the payment methods--or tell us how it can be done? I'd almost be willing to live with PP being first if there was a way to make the credit card fields automatically display instead of the user having to click. This is an issue for reasons I stated in my original post. This one issue is what is holding up upgrading my store to a new template, look, etc. Very frustrating.

The order is different in different templates. In our older templates, we also had to manually move the payment code blocks. Pay Pal was first, so many just used pay pal. Pay pal cost us more than our own merchant cc processor - so we manually reordered in the template. Our newest template has the merchant processor first - thankfully. Agreed - Sort option would be sweet.

Chris--in your newest template, did you change the blocks in checkoutsinglepage.html, or was there another file that was somehow involved (in our older template, simply moving blocks on that page works--in the new templates, our changes seem to be overridden by some other code somewhere). Can you give any insight? Thanks.

I am not sure about PayPal, but apparently, Google has it in their agreement with 3DCart to have Google Check Out first. We used it for a short time, but decided not to offer it anymore, as we did not want people to assume it was our only method of payment the way it was displayed.

We (as the store owner) should have the option to display the order of payment methods, but sometimes there are agreements that we as the customer of 3DCart are not privy to.

--in your newest template, did you change the blocks in checkoutsinglepage.html - No we did not change the checkout page in the new core template.
